Getting to know Melissa Ellis
Mel grew up in a real estate household, her Dad, Ian Finn had a long and successful career locally, so she remembers when now-established areas were ‘new’ estates. After a near-idyllic childhood running barefoot around acreage in Middle Boambee, she finished high school and headed for the bright lights of Sydney, and a career in journalism and later TV Publicity.
About six years down the track Mel returned to the Coffs Coast for a newspaper editor role, and in between having two babies and magazine writing she worked at her Father’s agency – happily stickybeaking at all the new listings and helping create the marketing. House stories were also her favourite features for Coast Living Magazine, and over the years she’s been lucky to see some beautiful properties along the Coffs Coast and the Northern Rivers. Mel and her family actually lived in the Lennox Head and Ballina area for a few years, but returned to Coffs in 2009 and decided to stay put!
With a firm belief that the Coffs Coast is one of the best places in the world to live and raise her two girls, Mel is thrilled to combine her passions for property, sales and writing - and she's currently working closely with Kerry Hines.
Having helped design one house, been a tenant, a landlord, a land buyer and then having bought an existing home in town, Mel’s spent many years as a ‘weekend warrior’ (she makes a mean concrete mix and actually likes laying turf!).
With a firm belief that enthusiasm, honesty and ethics are essential in any trust relationship, Mel was thrilled to join the team at Unreal Estate Coffs Coast, where those values are considered an asset.
